
Salma Hayek Pinault (born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jimmyenez, September 2, 1966)[3][4][5[3][4][5) is an American and Mexican actress. In Mexico, she began her career in the role as Teresa in the telenovela (1989-1991) as well as El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) which was the film in which she was nominated for an Ariel Award. From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999), Dogma (1999) and Desperado (1995) were but some of her numerous Hollywood credits. Hayek's portrayal of Frida Kahlo, a painter, in Frida (2002) the biographical film she produced that earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress nomination[6]. In addition, she received her Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Hayek played the lead in the action-oriented Once Upon a Time in Mexico pictures in the following years , and shifted her focus to making films.
