When she was initially inspired from the shadows that she observed on the grass of the trees She worked over a period of months in developing a process that didn't depict the object in a 2D image. The subject is a mirror of itself, with the canvas carrying an interpretation by painting of the object, especially when it's a live item or something perishable, such as fruit or people. Alexa's style of painting has an ephemeral quality, the only thing left of Alexa Meade's work is her photo. Painting and photography are closely coordinated to create two-dimensional flat surface which is a trompe l'oeil. At certain locations, the third dimensions can be visible, like close to the eyes or in the hair. At times, Meade integrates her painted models with the 3-dimensional world around them, allowing them to interact within this self-created world. In this way, she blurs the lines between photography, painting performance and installation.
